Five Three Five is a climber/shedder where players attempt to be the first to play all their cards from their hand by playing higher cards than the previous combination or even adding to it.
The game's deck consists of cards numbered 1-15, with ranks 6 and 10 cards omitted. The deck contains multiple copies of each card, depending on the number of players (4 copies for 2-4 players / 5 copies for 5+ players). In addition to a rank, each card has a point value, which depends on the power of its rank.
