ESP is a light and slightly silly trick-taking game by Odd Candy, based on the 1930s experiments of Karl Zener and J.B. Rhine to measure psychic aptitude. Open your third eye, because this test is really a trick-taking game. You play with 25 Zener cards (the numbers 1 to 5 in five symbols: circle, cross, squiggle, square and star). Each player gets six cards and one card stays face down in the middle: the Vision Card.
Every round you first predict what is on the Vision Card, a symbol or a number, and no one may pick the same as another player. If a prediction is right, that feature becomes the Supernatural Aspect of the round and acts as trump. Then you place a number of cards face down in front of you, which you may not look at again until you play them. After five tricks your last face-down card is your bid: if the number or symbol on that card matches the number of tricks you captured, you score extra points.
After four rounds you check the table to see how psychic you are, from no ability at all to a true visionary. A light-footed game with room for creativity and clever plays.
