Haratama

Haratama is a trick-taking game with a dark twist: you are an exorcist possessed by the very spirit you tried to banish. Your goal is not to win tricks, but to avoid them.

At the start of each round, three cards are revealed. Those cards are cursed: take a trick containing those numbers and you lose points. But there is a catch: collect more penalty cards than a set threshold and the penalty resets, passing to the other players instead.

That makes Haratama a game of risk and timing. Sometimes it pays to keep taking penalties on purpose, hoping to hit the threshold and pass the pain to everyone else. Designed by Shibu, creator of Bid Coin.
